The L22 shares a manual with the L21. The significant differences are that the L21 has a smaller 8 megapixel sensor behind the same lens, which gives a 'longer' equivalent focal range: 41 mm - 145 mm; it also has a 2,5" screen.
The zoom ratio of 3,6X is greater than the 3X offered by many of its competitors for entry level cameras, but less than the 4X offered on second tier cameras which often included a wide angle. The 37 mm (equivalent) of the L22 is only marginally 'wider' than the 'normal' 41 mm (equivalent) of the L21.
The engraved lens barrel is unreadable except in oblique light. Nikon says that the 12 megapixel sensor is enough for A3 prints. It was available in black, silver and red.
